ABOUT

DAPHNE QIN WU is a Chinese American cinematographer based in Los Angeles, and a 2011 graduate of USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. She has fifteen narrative features under her belt, as well as a full repertoire of shorts, commercials, music videos and fashion films shot in the U.S. and abroad.

She was a 2020 ASC Vision Mentorship mentee under Erik Messerschmidt, and in 2021 was named one of American Cinematographer’s Rising Stars of Cinematography. In 2022 she was chosen by BAFTA as a part of their Breakthrough USA cohort ‘22-23.

Her notable credits include narrative features SOUND OF VIOLENCE (2021) dir. Alex Noyer (SXSW 2021) and documentary ACCEPTED (2022) dir. Dan Chen (Tribeca 2021), currently airing on PBS.

In 2022 her feature film LIST OF A LIFETIME (2021) dir. Roxy Shih was nominated for a Critic’s Choice Award for Best Movie Made for Television. Her most recent narrative features are THE ANGRY BLACK GIRL AND HER MONSTER (2023) dir. Bomani Story and FREEDOM HAIR (2023) dir. Dianne Houston.

Daphne enjoys crafting visual stories that bring audiences on a journey, and believes deeply in the use of storytelling as a bridge for empathy. She looks for impactful, daring scripts, and loves to work with directors who are just as fearless in their vision.
